Québec
Our network represents more than 75 member organizations in Québec, ranging from cooperatives in specific communities to pan-Quebec associations of CED organizations, training enterprises and other civil society actors. The Network has a formal agreement with le Chantier de l'économie sociale to influence federal policy. In 2005, our work with le Chantier contributed to creating the federal social economy initiative that resulted in support for capital financing. This initiative led to the Quebec Social Economy Trust and funding for research looking at how to strengthen the social economy. Current priorities for the partnership with le Chantier include:
- encouraging municipal engagement in sustainable community economic development
- creating better supports to social enterprises
- working to open up government procurement to the social economy.
