Evaluating Program Effectiveness
October 13, 1 – 4pm
Location: United Way of Winnipeg Learning Centre, 580 Main St.
Facilitator: Bohdanna Kinasevych
This workshop This workshop will include discussion and hands on activities to build participants’ skills in evaluating program outcomes. Topics covered in the workshop will include:
• An introduction to outcome evaluation
• Steps involved in program evaluation
• Developing an evaluation plan
• Ethical and cultural considerations
• Methods for determining effectiveness
• Using evaluation findings
Evaluating Your Organization
October 27, 1 – 4pm
Location: United Way of Winnipeg Learning Centre, 580 Main St.
Facilitator: Rhonda Lorch
Evaluating the effectiveness of your organization can deliver many different results - increased efficiency, greater impact, invigorated boards and staff, and the pursuit of new directions, to name a few. This workshop will provide a framework for conducting a basic in-house assessment of your organization's effectiveness and provide you with a number of tools and resources that you can use in your evaluation.
Partnership Building and Collaboration
November 10, 1 – 4pm
Location: United Way of Winnipeg Learning Centre, 580 Main St.
Facilitator: Sue Hemphill
Collaborative relationships (especially partnerships) are the highest form of human relationships. They require a certain kind of: attitude and orientation, shared values, skills (to establish and manage effectively), and processes for joint planning, resolving conflicts and negotiating. In this workshop participants will explore the nuances between different types of collaborative relationships, what they all share in common, when to establish them and when not to. As well, what they require both in terms of spirit, skills, and process.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Board
November 24, 1 – 4pm
Location: United Way of Winnipeg Learning Centre, 580 Main St.
Facilitator: Ron Hayes
Learn the three basic responsibilities and the three legal duties of non-profit boards. Understand the essential and important differences between "Governance" and "Operations" activities. Discover how the board creates its own "unique" effective and meaningful model of governance. Also included are legal liability, risk management, insurance issues and written guidelines for policies, procedures, by-laws, and constitutional change.
Dealing With Difficult Employees
December 8, 1 – 4pm
Location: United Way of Winnipeg Learning Centre, 580 Main St.
Facilitator: Judith Cameron
As an employer, what can you do if your employees are;
• Being uncooperative?
• Gossiping?
• Undermining fellow employees or their employer?
• Lying, cheating or stealing?
• Being lazy?
• Being aggressive or combative?
• Not being motivated or challenged?
• Hesitant to take on new tasks or assignments?
• Disrupting the workplace?
• “Ticking off” your clients or membership?
This workshop will look at some of the more common (and often annoying) behaviors in the workplace, the reasons behind them and identify ways to reduce or eliminate the turmoil and drama!

All six workshops will happen at the new United Way Learning Centre, 580 Main Street, in Winnipeg, Wednesday afternoons, 1pm – 4pm throughout the Fall. You are welcome to attend just one, or all of the workshops.
